Privacy & your information

Mountain Pow is operated by Ebbline LLC. Updated November 5, 2026.

Email and the free eBook

When you subscribe, we save your email address, your marketing choice and when and where you signed up. We check the address format and domain; this does not confirm that you own the inbox. The site owner can review and export the list. Accepting marketing means occasional Mountain Pow guides, trip ideas and offers.

We retain your subscription information until you request deletion or we remove it. You can withdraw marketing permission or request a copy or deletion of your information by emailing sendit@mtnpow.com. Withdrawing permission stops future marketing; it does not undo a download you already received.

Browser Snow Alerts

If you enable alerts, we store this browser’s notification subscription, your chosen resorts, alert preferences and delivery status. A browser subscription is not an account and does not follow you to another device. Remove alerts in Settings or revoke notification permission in your browser. If you join a waiting list, we also save the email address and choices you submit.

Mountain Pulse & Fresh Tracks

Pulse counts deliberate saves, plans, comparisons, stoke, guide dog-ears, event plans, curated route plans and film play-link clicks as aggregates by item, action and period. It does not count page views, store IP addresses, fingerprint browsers, assign user IDs or keep individual action logs. Requests contain only an action and public content identifiers (or a comparison set and selected mountain), never trip dates, notes, locations or itineraries. These tallies are not unique people and are not linked to newsletter, Snow Alert or owner identities. A separate thresholded total shows existing browser Snow Alert subscriptions, not people.

Local browser storage suppresses repeat actions within a week and remembers your stoke, dog-ear and event choices. After an intentional comparison, a save or plan within 24 hours can record one choice from that set. This temporary association exists only in this browser. Shared site-wide request limits reduce abuse without identifying visitors; they do not verify people. Counts below ten are hidden, and fewer than three actions leave no visible mark. An hourly snapshot delays public updates. Weekly aggregates and thresholded daily activity snapshots are retained for about thirteen weeks. Closing weekly track levels, with no counts or identities, are kept for year-to-year memory. Monthly, seasonal and cumulative anonymous totals are retained for longer-lived marks. Dated mountain-data history is retained separately and contains no reader actions. Removing a local mark does not subtract its original positive action. Uncircling an event leaves any existing trip calendar intact.

Choose “Don’t count my moves” in Settings to stop sending Pulse actions from this browser. Your trips and saved lists still work. Clearing site data resets this preference. Owner sessions and local previews do not contribute. Hosting services receive ordinary connection information, including network addresses, to deliver and protect the site. Cloudflare may set a security cookie for bot protection. Pulse itself sets no cookies and does not save connection information in its application data.

Trips, lists and settings

Your saved trips, bucket list, dog-ears, circled event ideas and preferences are stored in this browser. Clearing site data can remove them. Sharing a trip or list puts its details in a link: anyone who receives that link can view the included information and forward it. Avoid including private contact details or sensitive travel information in a shared link.

The small planning notes in NowWePlan promotions stay on the page unless you copy and share them. Visiting NowWePlan opens a separate website with its own privacy information.

Services that help the site work

Mountain Pow uses ChatGPT Sites hosting and its managed Cloudflare infrastructure to serve pages and store signup and alert records. Browser push services deliver notifications. Weather providers and external image, webcam and booking websites may receive ordinary connection information, such as your IP address, when your browser requests their content or you follow their links.

Signing in through ChatGPT supplies account identity to the site for owner-only functions. You do not need an account to browse the public site or save a trip in your browser.
