GETTING THERE
Nearest Airports
Approximate planning ranges; allow extra time for traffic and winter conditions.
Asahikawa Airport is the nearer flight gateway; New Chitose serves the Sapporo area and involves a longer onward journey. Hokkaido tourism also lists bus access from JR Asahikawa Station. Check the current timetable, accommodation stop and return connection before committing to the day. Allow extra time for winter road conditions.
Arrange alpine ski or snowboard equipment before traveling up to Asahidake. The visitor center’s snowshoes and walking skis are different from alpine rentals, and it advises that ski and snowboard rentals are not available around Asahidake Onsen. City rental pickup or equipment arranged with your guide needs to fit the arrival plan.
