Garhwali cooking gives a meal in the valley a sense of place. Panchvati Inn Restaurant in Joshimath specialises in regional food alongside broader Indian and Chinese choices. Up in Auli, GMVN and Clifftop Club offer hotel dining, so meals can be part of the stay.

Choose between an evening at your accommodation and a planned meal in Joshimath. For hotel restaurants, confirm meal arrangements when booking, especially if you are staying elsewhere.

Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest air gateway; Delhi offers a wider choice of international connections but a substantially longer onward journey. Rishikesh, Haridwar and Dehradun are rail and road gateways. Plan a long mountain-road transfer via Joshimath, with flexible timing and an overnight stop if needed.

Auli is roughly 15–20 km by road above Joshimath, depending on your destination. Arrange the final transfer with your accommodation and check local road conditions before setting out. The Joshimath–Auli ropeway was suspended after the 2023 subsidence; do not rely on it for arrival unless the operator explicitly confirms service for your visit.

Winter is the season to consider skiing, but snow cover and available courses matter more than a fixed calendar end date. Ask the operator about current ski conditions before committing to a ski-focused trip, especially early or late in the winter.

Keep room in the itinerary for mountain views, Joshimath and accommodation-based meals if skiing is limited. Warmer months offer a different trip built around meadows and walking, with routes chosen for conditions and your experience.

Choose your base by its actual position on the mountain. Clifftop Club is a high-altitude Auli stay centered on Himalayan scenery and on-site dining. The Royal Village, whose operator site uses Auli Resort (The Village), is also up in Auli near the slopes. GMVN lists its Auli Ski Resort accommodation separately from Cloud End and Nanda Devi Eco Tourist Resort, so match the exact property to your arrival plan.

Satopanth The Auli Resort is in Lower Auli at Sunil, with balcony rooms, dining and a travel desk. Himalayan High offers mountain-view lodge rooms and meal-plan choices in the Auli area. These are different settings from a hotel in Joshimath town.

Arrange road arrival and the final approach with your accommodation before traveling; do not build the trip around an assumed operating Joshimath ropeway. Compare room format, heating and meal arrangements alongside the location, and check actual snow and ski access for your dates.
