CUYAHOGA VALLEY / AKRON-CLEVELAND CORRIDOR

THE REGION

Boston Mills sits within the scenic Cuyahoga Valley, nestled between Cleveland and Akron in northeast Ohio. The valley is home to Cuyahoga Valley National Park, one of the most visited national parks in the country, offering a surprising pocket of forested wilderness between two major cities. The resort shares a lift ticket with nearby Brandywine, giving skiers two small but fun areas to explore.

THE LOCAL SCENE

Peninsula is a small, artsy village at the heart of Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It has a few shops, galleries, and restaurants with a laid-back, outdoorsy vibe. The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad runs through town, adding to the nostalgic charm of this quiet corner between two cities.

GETTING THERE

Boston Mills is at 7100 Riverview Road in Peninsula, between the Cleveland and Akron areas. Brandywine is a separate ski area at 1146 West Highland Road. Set your navigation for the location on your ticket, lesson or rental confirmation. Allow time for traffic, winter weather and base-area check-in.

WHEN TO GO

Mid-December through early March is the typical season. January and February provide the most reliable conditions with full snowmaking coverage. Night skiing is available and popular for after-work sessions from both Cleveland and Akron.

BEYOND THE SLOPES

The region offers much more than skiing. Here's what else to explore:

Dining

WHERE TO STAY

For a park-focused stay, the Inn at Brandywine Falls is a year-round bed-and-breakfast overlooking the falls in Sagamore Hills. Stanford House near Peninsula offers a different format: rent the entire historic farmhouse for a group, with shared living spaces and an equipped kitchen. It is not a dorm-bed booking. Both require a separate trip to Boston Mills.

Independence offers straightforward hotel bases, including Hampton Inn & Suites Cleveland/Independence with breakfast and parking, and Red Roof Inn Cleveland–Independence with basic in-room conveniences. The Ritz-Carlton, Cleveland suits visitors who want downtown dining and city activities as part of the trip. Compare the base with your other plans and allow for traffic and winter road conditions rather than relying on a fixed drive time.

THE FOOD SCENE

Peninsula has a few casual spots including Fisher's Cafe & Pub, a local staple. Hudson's downtown has a wider range of restaurants from pizza to upscale dining. The broader Cleveland and Akron areas offer nationally recognized food scenes.

APRÈS & NIGHTLIFE

Joe Rider’s Bar at Boston Mills overlooks the slopes and has a dining space open to all ages, making it a convenient sit-down stop after skiing. The BM Cafe covers quicker lodge meals. For a town outing, Fisher’s Cafe & Pub on Main Street in Peninsula offers a family-run pub setting and familiar American food.

INSIDER TIPS

  • 💡Boston Mills and Brandywine are separate bases; check the location and access terms for your booking.
  • 💡Combine a ski visit with Peninsula or Cuyahoga Valley National Park, using current trail and attraction information.
  • 💡Weekdays can be a calmer alternative to busy weekend sessions.
