THE REGION

Brandywine sits near Cuyahoga Valley National Park in the Cleveland–Akron area. It shares an operator with Boston Mills, but the two hills have separate bases. Check your ticket or pass terms for access to each. The surrounding valley adds forests, waterfalls and towns to a short ski break.

THE LOCAL SCENE

Sagamore Hills is a quiet residential community at the edge of the national park. The area has a suburban feel but benefits from its proximity to the valley's natural beauty. Nearby Hudson and Macedonia offer more commercial amenities while retaining a community-oriented atmosphere.

GETTING THERE

Brandywine is at 1146 West Highland Road in the Cleveland–Akron area. Boston Mills is a separate base at 7100 Riverview Road. Use the address on your booking and arrange your own journey between the areas; do not assume a shuttle or interchangeable rental returns. Allow time for winter roads, parking and check-in.

WHEN TO GO

Midwinter cold usually gives the strongest snowmaking conditions. Use the current mountain calendar for open terrain, daytime and evening sessions. Weekdays can offer a calmer alternative to busy weekends.

BEYOND THE SLOPES

The region offers much more than skiing. Here's what else to explore:

🏔️

Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Outdoor

The national park surrounds the resort area, offering winter hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing on groomed trails.

🏔️

Brandywine Falls

Outdoor

A 65-foot waterfall in the national park named after the same creek, spectacular when partially frozen in winter.

🎭

Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens

Culture

A grand Tudor Revival mansion in Akron with seasonal tours and holiday events, one of the largest historic homes in the US.

🎭

Hudson Town Square

Culture

New England-style village green with shops, restaurants, and a classic clock tower in charming downtown Hudson.

WHERE TO STAY

For a park-focused stay, the Inn at Brandywine Falls offers year-round bed-and-breakfast accommodation overlooking the falls. Stanford House near Peninsula is an entire-house rental with shared living spaces and a kitchen, suited to groups booking together rather than individual dorm beds. Both require a separate trip to Brandywine.

Hampton Inn & Suites Oakwood Village-Cleveland offers breakfast, parking and an indoor pool, while Motel 6 Richfield provides a simpler motel base with Wi-Fi and laundry facilities. The Ritz-Carlton, Cleveland suits visitors who want downtown dining and city activities as part of the trip. Compare the location with your other plans and allow for traffic and winter road conditions.

THE FOOD SCENE

Brandywine Café is upstairs in the Main Lodge for a quick meal without leaving the resort. Its grab-and-go selection includes burgers, wraps, sandwiches and salads. For a town meal after skiing, Winking Lizard Tavern has a confirmed branch on Main Street in Peninsula, with American tavern food and drinks.

APRÈS & NIGHTLIFE

Drifters Bar is upstairs at Brandywine, next to the café entrance, and is strictly for guests 21 and older. For a town stop, Winking Lizard Tavern in Peninsula offers food and drinks; after 5 PM, guests under 21 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

INSIDER TIPS

  • 💡Check the Brandywine location and session on your ticket, lesson and equipment booking.
  • 💡Choose terrain around your ability and the current mountain report, including any open park features.
  • 💡Pair skiing with a visit to Cuyahoga Valley National Park, checking trail conditions and daylight.
