THE REGION

Kashimayari looks out over the Omachi side of Hakuba Valley. Its lift network serves its own marked terrain. A valley pass can make it practical to ski different resorts on successive days, with a road or bus journey between mountains.

For a mixed group, compare a day near Central Plaza 1130 with the Nakatsuna approach. Where you park or get off the bus matters if your group needs rentals, a meeting point or a return ride.

THE LOCAL SCENE

Omachi Onsenkyo offers a hot-spring base for a ski trip. A ryokan evening can be part of the stay, especially if you choose a meal plan. In town, look around Shinano-Omachi for dinner before the return journey.

GETTING THERE

Choose the arrival area before setting out. For Central Plaza 1130 and Alpen Inn, follow the resort’s central-parking directions via Kashimayari Garden. A navigation app can suggest a closed road. Nakatsuna is a separate entrance. Reaching the plaza from there involves a lift, so central or Kurosawa parking is usually simpler for families with small children.

From Shinano-Omachi Station and Omachi Onsenkyo, a seasonal resort bus serves the mountain. Check its operating days and last return. From Hakuba, compare the valley bus or a road transfer and confirm which entrance it uses. Leave time between separate ski areas. The resort also offers designated powered camper spaces in the central lot by separate confirmed reservation.

WHEN TO GO

Use the resort’s winter calendar and open-course map when choosing dates. Families planning to use the snow-play area should check its own opening days and admission. On a short trip, keep room in the schedule for transport between resorts.

WHERE TO STAY

Alpen Inn is inside Kashimayari’s Central Plaza 1130. Choose a dorm bed or ask about a private family or group room, and compare the meal options when you book. Highland Spa offers communal bathing in the same complex.

Omachi Onsenkyo suits travelers who want a hot-spring stay and can arrange the daily trip to the slopes. Alpine Route Hotel offers Japanese-style rooms and Western rooms with beds. KAI Alps combines kaiseki dining with a ski-gear drying room, while Oribana is a smaller ryokan with seasonal meals. ANA Holiday Inn Resort Shinano Omachi Kuroyon has family room options in Omachi. Check its scheduled December inspection closure and seasonal facility availability before reserving.

For a town stay in Omachi or a longer trip through Hakuba Valley, compare the winter journey from the exact property to Kashimayari. Check the pickup stop, operating dates and return journey for any bus or hotel transfer.

THE FOOD SCENE

Red Cedar has a spacious dining room on the second floor of Central Plaza 1130’s west building. For a quick break at the entrance to the slopes, head for the food court on the first floor.

In Omachi, Ramen Genya serves ramen and Kurobe Dam Curry directly in front of Shinano-Omachi Station. It makes a convenient meal stop if your route takes you through town.

APRÈS & NIGHTLIFE

For an evening in Omachi, Tori to Highball Izakaya Ginpachi offers charcoal-grilled chicken and local sake in the station area. Ramen Genya is an option for a bowl of noodles across from the station. Check the evening service and plan the return trip to your lodging before setting out.

INSIDER TIPS

  • 💡Choose Central Plaza 1130 as a meeting point when arriving by the central approach.
  • 💡Look for Lake Aoki views from open upper terrain on a clear day.
  • 💡Plan Kashimayari and Jigatake as separate mountain outings.
  • 💡For a ryokan stay, compare meal plans and how you will reach the winter shuttle.
