THE REGION
Kiroro lies in Akaigawa, inland from the port city of Otaru in western Hokkaido. Staying at the mountain puts lifts and resort dining close together. Staying in Otaru gives you a city evening and a separate road transfer on ski days.

Another season up here
Yu Kiroro, the resort’s ski-in/ski-out hotel, runs recurring summer outdoor sessions with tent building, fire making, games and bread baking.
Before you go: Reserve the hotel-based program through Yu Kiroro’s front desk and confirm eligibility before visiting. Its 2026 sessions ran on summer weekends from June 20 to September 13.

Hokkaido's food scene centers on fresh seafood, ramen, and dairy products. The Akaigawa area is agricultural and rural—more working town than tourist destination. Après revolves around the resort's hotels and onsen (hot springs) rather than village bars.
From New Chitose Airport or Sapporo, compare winter resort bus options with the train to Otaru-Chikko and a taxi or rental car for the final leg. Select your actual hotel or ski-base stop when reserving. For an Otaru stay, check both directions of the resort bus before relying on it for a ski day.
Choose dates using the winter calendar and the open-course report for Asari and Nagamine. If your trip depends on a particular lift, tree area or evening session, check it separately. For a short stay, leave enough time for the return transfer to Otaru or the airport.
The region offers much more than skiing. Here's what else to explore:
Arrange a qualified guide and review Kiroro’s backcountry policy before booking. Exit only through permitted gates and follow the registration requirements.
Choose a property with bathing facilities if a hot soak is part of your ski day. Check guest access when choosing a hotel.
Ask about guided snow activities when booking. Use the meeting point and equipment list for your outing.
Allow time in Otaru on the way to or from the mountain for a city meal. Check your onward transport before an evening out.
Club Med Kiroro Grand suits families looking for an all-inclusive stay by the slopes. Club Med Kiroro Peak welcomes guests age 12 and older, while Yu Kiroro offers ski-in/ski-out condominium suites with separate bedrooms. For an off-mountain stay, Pension Akaigawa is near the village hot spring and Dormy Inn Premium Otaru is near JR Otaru Station. Arrange the road transfer to Kiroro before choosing either base.
At the Mountain Center, Cafeteria Lumiere offers lunch sets, while Café Le Lift just inside the entrance serves soup, lighter meals and sweets. Check each venue’s opening for your ski dates.
For a planned dinner, Yukashi Alpine Bistro at Yu Kiroro takes reservations. Otaru is the main buffet for stays at Club Med Kiroro Peak, a property for ages 12 and up. Check hotel dining access before heading over from another property.
Yuki Lounge at Yu Kiroro offers coffee, desserts and drinks for a quieter end to the day. For dinner, reserve Yukashi at Yu Kiroro or check the meal arrangements at your own hotel. Confirm availability and access before arranging an evening between properties.
