THE REGION

Les Menuires is the no-nonsense, family-oriented heart of Les 3 Vallées. Purpose-built in the 1960s, the resort trades alpine charm for outstanding ski-in/ski-out access and the best value lift passes in the world's largest linked ski area. The Belleville Valley location provides direct connections to Val Thorens above and Saint-Martin-de-Belleville below, while the Masse and Mont de la Chambre peaks offer high-altitude skiing up to 2,850m. Recent renovations have softened the brutalist architecture with wood cladding and modern amenities.

THE LOCAL SCENE

Les Menuires has shed its purely functional reputation. The Reberty and Les Bruyères neighborhoods now feature warm wood-and-stone architecture. The resort embraces its family-friendly identity with extensive children's programs, sledging areas, and the Roc des 3 Marches adventure zone. Savoyard cuisine remains central, with several mountain restaurants serving beautifully presented local specialties.

GETTING THERE

Geneva airport (GVA) is 160 km / 2h15 drive. Lyon-Saint-Exupéry (LYS) is 190 km / 2h30. Moûtiers TGV station is 27 km away with regular shuttle bus service (45 min). Altibus coaches run from Geneva and Lyon airports on weekends. The road from Moûtiers climbs through the Belleville Valley — snow chains may be required.

WHEN TO GO

Choose dates for Les Menuires itself and check which village lifts and connecting pistes are operating. Val Thorens has its own calendar. For spring travel, verify your route back before booking a stay around a neighbouring sector’s later closing date.

BEYOND THE SLOPES

The region offers much more than skiing. Here's what else to explore:

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Friendly Natural Park

Family

In the La Masse sector, this family ski area introduces local wildlife through features along the route.

🏔️

Pixel Area

Outdoor

Look for the resort’s freestyle and boardercross features when open. Choose the marked line for your group’s ability.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Winter sledging

Family

Check the activity programme for the open sledging venue, admission and age requirements before leaving your district.

🍽️

Belleville valley dining

Dining

Compare an evening meal in a resort neighbourhood with a separate outing to Saint-Martin-de-Belleville or Saint-Marcel.

🎭

Belleville village visit

Culture

Set aside time to visit the valley villages and arrange the return to your lodging.

WHERE TO STAY

Choose a district and room layout around your ski day. At Reberty, Les Alpages has apartments with kitchens, a heated pool and ski-in/ski-out access. In Preyerand, Le Hameau des Airelles offers individual rentals by the pistes. Check the layout and services of the apartment you book. Belambra Hôtel Les Bruyères has ski lockers beside the pistes and a sauna and hammam on site. Chalet Hôtel Kaya pairs direct access with a pool and ski shop, while Chalet Hôtel Le Menuire suits guests who want half-board dining.

THE FOOD SCENE

On La Masse, Le 2800 sits at the gondola summit, while Le Chalet de la Masse sits along the Vallons piste. In the resort, try La Marmite for regional cooking in Les Bruyères or La Ferme de Reberty for dinner at Reberty 2000.

APRÈS & NIGHTLIFE

At Reberty 2000, La Ferme de Reberty serves local beer and cocktails by the fire or on its terrace. For a family stop on the Les Bruyères snow front, La Marmite’s outdoor chalet serves crêpes and hot chocolate.

INSIDER TIPS

  • 💡Choose the lodging district and ski-school meeting point together. The winter shuttle links La Croisette, Reberty, Les Bruyères and other neighbourhoods.
  • 💡For a mixed group, compare the practice areas at La Croisette and Les Bruyères before moving farther from the base.
  • 💡Plan the return from La Masse or another valley using that day’s open connections.
