CÔTE-DE-BEAUPRÉ

THE REGION

Mont-Sainte-Anne is one of Eastern Canada's premier ski destinations, rising 800 meters above the St. Lawrence River on Quebec's beautiful Côte-de-Beaupré. The mountain offers skiing on three distinct sides — south, north, and west — providing 71 trails across 222 hectares of skiable terrain, plus one of the largest cross-country ski networks in Canada with over 200 km of groomed trails.

Located just 40 minutes from historic Quebec City, Mont-Sainte-Anne combines world-class skiing with easy access to one of North America's most enchanting cities. The resort is also famous for its extensive night skiing program, with 19 illuminated trails available on the south side.

THE LOCAL SCENE

The Côte-de-Beaupré is steeped in French-Canadian culture and history. The nearby Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré is a major pilgrimage site dating to 1658. The region speaks predominantly French, though English is widely understood in tourism establishments.

The proximity to Quebec City means access to world-class culture, dining, and nightlife. The walled Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers cobblestone streets, historic architecture, and some of the finest French-inspired cuisine in North America.

GETTING THERE

Mont-Sainte-Anne is in Beaupré, east of Québec City. Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) is the nearby gateway; Montréal is a substantially longer drive. Allow roughly an hour from YQB as a planning guide, with extra time for weather and traffic.

A Beaupré or slopeside base simplifies ski mornings; Québec City adds a wider urban visit. If you want to stay without a car, arrange the actual transfer with your accommodation or transport provider before booking.

WHEN TO GO

The season typically runs from late November through mid-April, one of the longest seasons in Eastern Canada. January and February are the coldest months with the most reliable natural snow, supplemented by extensive snowmaking coverage. The resort's north-facing terrain holds snow well into spring.

For a magical experience, combine a mid-week ski trip with Quebec City's Winter Carnival in late January or early February. Night skiing is available Wednesday through Saturday evenings and adds a unique dimension to any visit.

WHERE TO STAY

The resort base has several condo hotels including Chalets Mont-Sainte-Anne and the Château Mont-Sainte-Anne. The village of Beaupré offers motels and vacation rentals at moderate prices. For a more upscale experience, stay in Old Quebec City at the iconic Fairmont Le Château Frontenac or one of many boutique hotels.

Quebec City accommodations provide excellent value and world-class dining, with a scenic 40-minute drive to the slopes.

THE FOOD SCENE

On-mountain dining includes the Grand Lodge cafeteria and Le Bistro. The nearby village of Beaupré has several family restaurants and pubs. The real culinary reward is Quebec City, home to renowned restaurants like Chez Muffy, Laurie Raphaël, and countless bistros serving classic French-Canadian cuisine.

Don't miss trying poutine, tourtière (meat pie), and sugar pie — quintessential Quebec comfort foods.

APRÈS & NIGHTLIFE

The Bières et Compagnie lodge at the base offers post-ski drinks with mountain views. For a more lively après scene, head into Quebec City where the Grande Allée strip has bars and restaurants buzzing every evening. Le Pub Saint-Patrick and La Barberie microbrewery are local favorites.

INSIDER TIPS

  • 💡Ski the north side on cold, clear days for the most challenging terrain and fewest crowds
  • 💡Try night skiing on the illuminated south side trails — a unique and magical experience
  • 💡Combine your ski trip with a day in Old Quebec City for culture, shopping, and incredible dining
  • 💡The cross-country ski network here is world-class — bring your nordic gear for a rest day
