THE REGION

Mount Brighton sits just off Interstate 96 in Livingston County, roughly equidistant between Detroit and Lansing. It serves as the most accessible ski hill for metro Detroit's nearly four million residents. The Brighton area is a growing suburban community surrounded by lakes, state recreation areas, and a charming downtown with local shops and restaurants.

THE LOCAL SCENE

Downtown Brighton has a walkable Main Street with independent shops, restaurants, and a movie theater. The area is lake country, with dozens of small lakes surrounded by homes and parks. It has a family-friendly suburban character with easy access to both Detroit's urban attractions and Michigan's outdoor recreation.

GETTING THERE

Navigate to 4141 Bauer Road in Brighton. The east entrance to the parking lot is on Challis Road and the west entrance is on Bauer Road. Choose the lodge as your group meeting place before separating for rentals or lessons.

WHEN TO GO

For an after-work session, check lift, rental and dining hours separately. If you want a particular lesson or park session, choose the date around the operator’s programme.

BEYOND THE SLOPES

The region offers much more than skiing. Here's what else to explore:

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Kensington Metropark

🎭

Ann Arbor

Culture

The University of Michigan's vibrant college town is 30 minutes south with world-class dining, culture, and entertainment.

WHERE TO STAY

For a night built around skiing, stay in Brighton. The Hampton on Challis Road includes breakfast, while the Courtyard on Conference Center Drive has a bistro and an indoor pool. Howell is another off-hill base if it fits your route. Choose the Townsend for a Birmingham weekend and allow for the longer drive to the ski area.

THE FOOD SCENE

Ski Hill Grill serves burgers, chicken tenders and chili for a quick break. Ore Creek Mountain Grill is the full-service choice at the same Bauer Road base, with soups, salads and sandwiches. Downtown Brighton offers more options away from the hill.

APRÈS & NIGHTLIFE

Stay at the resort for a table at Ore Creek Mountain Grill when it is serving, or carry the evening into downtown Brighton for dinner.

INSIDER TIPS

  • 💡Check the last lift before setting out from Detroit or Ann Arbor for night skiing.
  • 💡Use the base-area map to meet at the lodge after lessons or park laps.
  • 💡Downtown Brighton is a nearby option for dinner. Ann Arbor works as a separate day out.
