THE REGION

Eden in the Ogden Valley is the gateway to Powder Mountain. The ski area spreads across high ridges above the valley. The public day-ticket terrain mixes chairlifts with bus-return and hike-accessed zones, while some lifts are reserved for private access. Staying in the valley means planning the mountain road or winter transit leg each day.

THE LOCAL SCENE

Eden is the valley stop on the way to and from the ski area. Carlos & Harley’s serves Mexican dishes and burgers in an old general store. Eats of Eden bakes its own breads and pizza crust and offers takeaway. Up at Sundown, Lucky Slice is a practical break during a night-ski session.

GETTING THERE

For an arrival through Salt Lake City, plan onward travel through Ogden or Eden. Driving to the mountain involves a winding climb from the valley; allow extra time in winter and consult the resort’s current road and traction guidance before setting out.

The UTA Ski Bus connects the Ogden and Eden areas with Powder Mountain. The resort also lists its Bristlecone shuttle from Eden Park & Ride to the lodges. Check winter operation and route details before planning a car-free mountain day, and arrange the airport-to-valley leg separately.

For travel around the mountain, Powder Transit’s separate Lodge Route links the Powder Country bus stop, Sundown Center, Hidden Lake Lodge and Timberline Lodge. Use the resort’s route information to choose the service for your starting point and destination.

WHEN TO GO

The resort targets December 11 for the 2026–27 opening, with daytime skiing reserved for season passholders that day and night skiing available to ticket holders. Check ticket availability for later winter dates. Natural snow, wind and patrol decisions affect what opens, particularly in adventure terrain. Sundown has its own night-ski schedule.

BEYOND THE SLOPES

The region offers much more than skiing. Here's what else to explore:

🏔️

Pineview Reservoir

Outdoor

Enjoy the reservoir views from the valley. Plan water activities for the appropriate season and conditions.

🏔️

Snowbasin Resort

Outdoor

Snowbasin is a separate Ogden-area ski destination. Check its own access, lift ticket and road route.

🏔️

Ogden Canyon

Outdoor

Scenic drive through granite walls; trailheads and picnic areas in summer

🎭

The Shooting Star Saloon

Culture

Utah's oldest bar in Huntsville, serving since 1879 with famous burgers and Western atmosphere

🎭

Historic Huntsville

Culture

One of Utah's oldest towns with preserved buildings and town square

🏔️

Nordic Valley

Outdoor

A separate Ogden Valley ski area. Check its current terrain and operating schedule before making a side trip.

WHERE TO STAY

Columbine Inn and Powder Ridge Village offer on-mountain lodging. Ask how to reach an open public lift from the exact unit, and confirm winter parking and road access before arrival. For a valley base, compare vacation homes in Eden with a room at Compass Rose Lodge in Huntsville. An Ogden or Salt Lake City hotel adds a longer mountain journey. If you plan to use a ski bus, match your address to its stops and check the schedule for your dates.
