THE REGION

Tomamu is a resort destination in inland Hokkaido, with hotels, slopes and dining spread across a rural mountain setting. It suits visitors who want skiing and other winter activities in one resort area. Plan off-site meals or other mountains as separate journeys, and choose accommodation around the services you want close by.

THE LOCAL SCENE

The forest setting and Hokkaido ingredients give Tomamu’s resort dining its character: Nininupuri combines woodland views with Hoshino Farm dairy, and seafood features in hal’s winter buffet. Hotalu Street adds a casual choice of separate restaurants, with ramen, soup curry and burgers among the options.

GETTING THERE

From New Chitose Airport, reach Tomamu Station by rail with a change at Minami-Chitose; Sapporo also has direct trains to Tomamu. The resort provides a separate station-to-hotel shuttle for The Tower and RISONARE. Reserve the limited-express train seat and use the official access page to plan connections. Driving and booked private transfers are alternatives. Before driving, check winter road conditions and the vehicle’s winter equipment with your rental provider.

WHEN TO GO

Winter is the ski season, with open terrain and snow-dependent activities changing through the season. Ice Village operates for a shorter period than the ski area, and the winter sightseeing terrace focuses on frosted trees and mountain views. Choose dates around the experiences that matter to your group; the summer cloud-sea visit is a separate seasonal plan.

BEYOND THE SLOPES

The region offers much more than skiing. Here's what else to explore:

🏔️

Terrace of Frosted Tree

Outdoor

Winter mountain views and frost-covered trees reached by gondola. Check sightseeing access and weather-dependent operation.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Ice Village

Family

Explore the seasonal ice domes, rink and bar. Check entry arrangements and reserve paid experiences separately; the Ice Hotel is a distinct overnight booking.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Mina-Mina Beach

Family

An indoor wave-pool outing for a break from the snow. Check opening and the access included with your accommodation or day visit.

🏔️

Winter outdoor activities

Outdoor

Compare the resort’s guided snow outings, including snowmobiling and horseback experiences where offered. Match the activity to your group and reserve any required places.

WHERE TO STAY

At Tomamu, compare The Tower’s family and group rooms and Adventure Base planned for winter with Risonare’s larger suites, private saunas and scenic whirlpool baths. Choose the room and meal package you need, and check the hotels’ announced seasonal maintenance dates. Petit Hotel Gracey Tomamu provides a separate Kamitomamu base with rooms, cottages and meal-plan choices; arrange the journey to the ski area. Sahoro Resort Hotel and Minshuku Sahoro House are in the Shintoku area, with different resort or town settings. Treat stays there as independent travel plans, checking Tomamu transport and each mountain’s ticket access rather than assuming a shared shuttle or pass.

THE FOOD SCENE

Tomamu offers several ways to settle into a meal without leaving the resort. Forest Restaurant Nininupuri pairs a buffet with floor-to-ceiling forest views, while Buffet Dining hal at The Tower serves breakfast and dinner with seafood among its winter offerings.

Hotalu Street is a dining village with individual restaurants, useful when a group wants choices such as ramen, soup curry or burgers. Check the individual venue and seasonal service before making plans.

APRÈS & NIGHTLIFE

Build the evening around dinner at Nininupuri, Buffet Dining hal or a restaurant in Hotalu Street. Lounge yukku yukku is a convenient pause inside The Tower, but it is available only to hotel guests. Restaurant and lounge service varies through the season; check your chosen venue before heading over.

INSIDER TIPS

  • 💡Compare The Tower’s central services with RISONARE’s suite-focused stay.
  • 💡Check each winter attraction’s season before fixing your travel dates.
  • 💡Keep expert-only powder access separate from a beginner lesson or booked guided tour.
  • 💡Use the resort shuttle and access information to connect your hotel, station and activities.
