THE REGION

Bogus Basin sits in the mountains above Boise, Idaho, with a nonprofit community focus dating to 1942. Boise adds restaurants, breweries, arts and urban accommodation, while the foothills and mountain provide a different outdoor setting. Plan the drive between the city and ski area as part of the day.

THE LOCAL SCENE

Bogus Basin pairs a community mountain day with an evening in Boise. On the hill, Bogus Creek Grill is a straightforward meal stop and JoJo Beans serves coffee in the same lodge. Pioneer Lodge has Pioneer Grill and The Saloon together on its second floor.

Back in Boise, Fork combines regional sourcing with a relaxed downtown dining room, while Highlands Hollow offers house-made ales, food and a community atmosphere. Allow for the mountain-road journey when planning a city dinner after skiing.

GETTING THERE

Use the mountain address at 1754 Bogus Basin Road rather than the downtown business office. The ski area is reached by a winding climb on Bogus Basin Road from Boise. Allow substantial extra time in snow, ice or peak traffic; the airport range here is an approximate planning allowance, not a promised transfer time.

The operator recommends a vehicle equipped for winter conditions, including suitable tyres and traction equipment. Check the road report before travelling. Peak-period bus and parking-shuttle services may help with the journey; use the operator’s current schedule for your dates.

WHEN TO GO

Plan a winter visit around the mountain’s open terrain and weather. Midwinter generally offers the main ski season, with spring conditions later in the season. Night skiing is part of the offering, but the operating calendar determines which evenings and areas are available. Weekdays can be a calmer alternative to busy weekends. Summer brings biking, hiking and other mountain activities.

BEYOND THE SLOPES

The region offers much more than skiing. Here's what else to explore:

🏔️

Boise Foothills Hiking & Biking

Outdoor

Extensive trail system with views of the Boise Valley, 15 minutes from downtown

🏔️

Rock Climbing (Payette River & Crags)

Outdoor

World-class granite climbing near Boise with bolted sport routes and trad climbing

🎭

Downtown Boise Dining & Breweries

Culture

Exceptional restaurants, farm-to-table dining, and craft breweries throughout the city

🧘

Geothermal Hot Springs

Wellness

Natural hot springs and spa facilities near the foothills

WHERE TO STAY

Choose between a Boise city stay and a mountain condominium. Downtown options include The Grove Hotel for full-service facilities and Trillium dining, Hotel 43 for a boutique stay connected to Chandlers, and the Modern Hotel in the Linen District for its design and bar-and-restaurant setting. The Riverside Hotel offers a Boise River base with pools, hot tubs, dining and live music. Plan the drive to Bogus Basin separately and allow for winter road conditions.

For an overnight stay at the mountain, Pioneer Condominiums are privately owned rentals near mid-mountain Pioneer Lodge. They offer ski-in/ski-out access when the relevant terrain is operating. Compare the individual condo’s layout, cooking facilities and arrival instructions before booking; units differ.
