THE FOOD SCENE

Dining at Mike Wiegele is an all-inclusive, lodge-based affair that the operation treats with the same seriousness as its skiing. The day starts with a substantial breakfast buffet in the Powder Max Dining Room: eggs, fresh baked goods, smoked meats, fruit, yogurt, and strong coffee to fuel a day of powder skiing. Packed lunches are prepared for the mountain, eaten on sun-warmed rocks or standing in knee-deep snow between runs. Upon returning to the lodge in the late afternoon, freshly baked snacks and hot beverages greet tired skiers. Dinner is the main event. The Powder Max Dining Room serves multi-course gourmet meals nightly, drawing on fresh ingredients and a rotating menu that reflects both European tradition and Canadian bounty. Think pan-seared Pacific salmon, Alberta beef tenderloin, wild mushroom risotto, and house-made desserts, all impeccably presented. The 600-bottle wine cellar provides pairings from British Columbia, France, Italy, and the New World, and the sommelier is happy to guide selections. The communal dining atmosphere is central to the Wiegele philosophy: meals are a time for guests to share stories, build friendships, and feel part of something larger than just a ski trip. Dietary restrictions and preferences are accommodated without fuss. The kitchen has been perfecting this craft for over fifty years, and it shows.

APRÈS-SKI & NIGHTLIFE

Après at Mike Wiegele begins the moment the helicopter returns to the village helipad. The daily rhythm is well-established and deeply satisfying: shed your ski gear, hand your skis to the technicians who will tune and wax them overnight, then head to the Health Center for a soak in the Jacuzzi, a session in the sauna or steam room, or a professional massage. By late afternoon, the Silver Buckle Lounge fills with guests and guides settling into leather chairs around the stone fireplace, cold drinks in hand, recounting the day's highlights. The lounge takes its name from the legendary Silver Buckle award, given to guests who accumulate one million vertical feet with the operation, and the stories shared here carry that legacy forward every evening. A curated selection of wines, cocktails, and craft beers is available at the bar, and the 600-bottle cellar is open for those who want to explore something special before dinner. After dinner in the Powder Max Dining Room, the evening continues in the games room with pool, cards, and board games, or in quieter corners of the lounge for conversation and nightcaps. Bonnie's Boutique, located in the main lodge, offers high-end ski apparel and accessories for evening browsing. There is no bar crawl, no crowded pub, no taxi ride home. The Silver Buckle Lounge, the fireplace, the hot tub under the stars, and the company of people who just shared an extraordinary day in the mountains: that is après at Mike Wiegele, and it is more than enough.
