THE VIBE
At the end of Washington’s Mount Baker Highway, Baker pairs a compact lift network with serious mountain character. Come for storm days, natural terrain and a deeply rooted snowboard culture. White Salmon and Heather Meadows provide two ways into the ski area; this is a day-lodge mountain rather than a slopeside resort village.
Best For
- ✓Storm-day skiers and snowboarders
- ✓Experienced riders who enjoy natural terrain
- ✓Self-contained campers with an overnight reservation
Skip If
- ✗You want slopeside hotels and a resort village
- ✗Your trip depends on an Ikon or Epic pass

Beyond the ropes is a different outing
Backcountry access is not a lift-served trail recommendation. Read Baker’s boundary and uphill rules, respect closures and plan any backcountry outing with appropriate skills, partners, equipment and conditions information.
