arrival planning

Approximate planning ranges; allow extra time for traffic and winter conditions.

Calgary is a practical major-airport gateway for Kicking Horse. Follow the Trans-Canada Highway west to Golden, then the resort access road; Rogers Pass is farther west and is not part of this approach from Calgary. Treat the transfer as roughly a half-day travel block once winter conditions and stops are included.

Compare an airport transfer with driving, and a Golden town base with on-mountain accommodation. Use the resort’s current access guide for local connector services and any road restrictions.

OVERNIGHT STAYS & CAMPERVANS

Compare a booked Golden base with an on-mountain stay. For a camper trip, arrange a designated site with winter access and the services you need before driving up to the resort.

Accommodation alternatives in this guide include Palliser Lodge and Glacier Mountaineer Lodge. See the lodging cards for room types and booking links.

Book a designated overnight place for your vehicle and dates. Day parking does not provide permission to camp.

🐕 PET POLICY

Historical pet-policy guidance.

Pets are not allowed on the mountain or in resort lodges. The town of Golden has pet-friendly accommodations and walking trails along the Kicking Horse River.

Confirm rooms, fees and access rules with the property or resort before you travel. A pet-friendly area does not mean pets can use ski slopes or lifts.
